Hi,
We're looking to buy some rural acreage and were wondering if there are any areas where building permits aren't required. Would love to build an off grid cabin without the complications of building inspectors and permits etc. Thanks.
This is New York...........It seems like everything needs a permit, but maybe New Hampshire or Vermont is better for something like that? Especially inside the Adirondack Park/Blue Line.............they can tell you how high the building can be which is infuriating to some people, but then people do come here loving the fact that things aren't commercialized and they feel as though they are truly experiencing nature at its best........wouldn't want that job..........
Pennsylvania has a "recreational cabin" exemption from the building code. To keep the inspector away, you need to have a limitation to that use, recorded at the courthouse. However, some of PA's 2,500+ municipalities might choose to apply the code anyway.
Why are you not interested in having permits.......the cost, etc.......?
