Nice towns, good schools, easy to NYC?

My brother got transferred to Rye Brooke...trying to help him out.

I lived in Westchester/NYC for 6 years as a single guy and loved it, he has 3 kids and wants a decent home for 450K.

not sure of home prices these days but mahopac has top rated schools and is a lovely town. Take a drive through and check it out. good luck.

He might be able to stay in Westchester, around Yorktown, though the house in Putnam would tend to be a bit larger.

Carmel is also a good bet in Putnam County, offering larger houses in the budget and good schools.

Closer to his office, he might be able to find something in Valhalla, Thornwood, or Pleasantville, but that will be a house that is smaller than what the budget would buy in Yorktown, and/or will have condition issues.
