I'm looking at moving back to the US from New Zealand. I'm an elementary school teacher, and would like to continue my career back home. I'm looking at western and upstate NY as a possibility. I have three years of certified teaching experience here, and I went to teacher's college (a post-graduate degree, but not a master's) here. I'm currently in the process of getting a North Carolina teaching license (my parents current home). My main question is what the job market is like for elementary teachers.
Any recommendations and/ or reality checks are welcome, and thank you all in advance!
Not too hot right now....The Gov has made teaching a nightmare for next year.... budget cuts have left school districts to cut positions and stop hiring teachers. You would be very lucky to get a long term sub position next year to be very honest. Put you application out to as far out as you are willing to drive.... apply to as many districts as you are willing to work.... and take ANYTHING you might get.... My cousin graduated top of her class last year and can't even get an interview.... if that tells you anything. REALITY.... not a good field to be in right now.....
