Moving East (Rockland: home, schools, quality of life)

Need suggestions. Family of four with 2 young children relocating to Rockland Cnty, Orange Cnty area.

We are looking for Great schools and easy commute to LI.

Currently enjoying a beautiful 2200 sqft home for $1300 a month 4 bed 2+ bath. 2 year old home. Will we be able to find anything similar in these areas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated looking to relocate in June.

You are looking to commute to LI from Rockland/Orange Cty? If so there is nothing easy about commuting on LI let alone to LI. For example I lived 9 miles from where I worked on LI and it took about 30-45 minutes. I am not sure about trains etc in Rockland but I would assume you would go to Penn station in NYC and then to LI - but then you would need a car to get to where ever. Driving from rockland to LI IMO would be insane.

I don't know the schools, but your commute will be endless. Try it on a Monday morning before you commit yourself to the area. Public transportation will involve switching trains, and Long Islander's will be happy to tell you horror stories about the LIRR.

Driving...I'm trying to think of the right words. You'll never see your kids except on weekends, so consider your quality of life.
