I only stated that between the years 2010-2020, 16,000 refuges have moved to Buffalo. Not the year to year data. That's the total reported. It varied year to year. I agree. Data is everywhere. Maybe some dispersed elsewhere, who knows. The places the young are moving aren't cheap, unless maybe a college student
Yes, I knew what you were referring to with those numbers.
Good point about the younger people moving to these cities. Some college students may be in some apartments or even homes, as I’ve seen or heard of college students at Syracuse University and U of R live in homes near those campuses. Parents likely buy them what say their child and perhaps a friend staying there for a few years. Then, they sell once their child is done.

The increase was a surprise, as Census population estimates since 2017 had shown losses year after year. The actual headcount showed an increase at a rate greater than the 2.1% increase seen between 2000 and 2010.
Even though NY gained population, it will lose 1 Congressional seat.
City and County population estimates will be available next month.

Basically, the most populated counties Upstate gained in population for the most part and the more rural counties had loses in terms of population.
So much for argument that cap on SALT deductions is causing people to "flee" New York.
Next time that is brought up all anyone need do is point 2020 census, and that will be that....
