This region is the cradle of American civilization, one of the most beautiful and historically-significant places in the country (if not on the planet). From architects (Downing, Vaux), to industrialists (Vanderbilt, Rockefeller, Carnegie), to presidents (Washington, Van Buren, FDR)--not to mention the scores of writers and artists. We're not Albany, not NYC, and not Western New York. Why, for the love of all that is good and decent, do we not have a section of our own? I mean, c'mon.

I would call it Hudson Valley-Catskills.

Westchester has its own category. So this would be Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Columbia, Ulster, Orange, Sullivan, Greene and Delaware counties.

It shouldn't be split like that - Rockland for instance has nothing in common with most of those counties. It should either be left the way it is, or put Rockland, and some or all of Dutchess/Putnam/Orange with Westchester and than make a Catskill/Upper Hudson Valley page.

But its mostly fine the way it is.

I think what makes this tough is that the former Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown metro is now a part of the NYC metro area. Kingston is its own area as well. So, maybe a forum could be created with a focus on these areas.

I also do not understand why Rockland County isn't combined with the Westchester County forum.

Heck the posters can't even agree what the defined area should be and you expect CD to create a new board; I agree Rockland should be part of Westchester on these boards.

I know that before it became a part of the NYC metro, the area that made up the Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown area(Orange and Dutchess counties) was a top 100 metro area in population. This can give an idea of the area the section would cover, minus Albany and Rensselaer counties. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hudson_Valley

So, perhaps having a Mid Hudson section would be a good idea. Perhaps changing the Westchester section to a Lower Hudson section may also be a good idea.

I agree with a lower Hudson section but I am sure CD is looking at the postings and what localities they identify with. Westchester is light on a good week and Mid-Hudson/Catskills seems to be rare to none existent so where is this pent up demand being posted now?

Westchester has it's own forum and has a lower population than the Hudson Valley.
