Just got back from vacation, It was nice leaving NY but what I noticed most about my road trip was coming home and seeing the sign at the Erie PA/NY Border.. The big sign "WELCOME TO NY" Then Bump Bump Bump all the way home... The roads in NYS is the worst Ive seen out of 7 states I traveled. Fix your damn roads NY, How embarrassing
I never noticed probably because I was always hit with a wave of depression entering NY, but it is funny that you mention it.
When I was younger taking road trips, and I'd get back home in Rochester, my friends would hit me up on AOL instant messager, "Welcome back." I'd yell at them saying that I didn't want to be back in that state. From then on when I'd return from a road trip, they'd simply greet me with "I'm sorry."
In all honesty.. Its quite embarassing, You would think NYS would notice that and fix it at the NYS LINE. They are good at covering up everything else to make people think NYS is the best place to live, Well Imagine what everyone thinks as soon as they cross that state line?

If you were on I-90, I would take that up with the Thruway Authority. I'm curious as to which roads you are traveling. When leaving the state, I'm always on I-90 or I-81. I never have a problem with either, and they are better maintained than the surrounding states. The Thruway is very patchy, there are 10 mile sections that are very well maintained followed by 10 mile sections that are awful.
Local roads are a local issue. Buffalo roads suck, but the suburb I live in has much better quality. Hence, local issue.
I'm assuming you aren't from Michigan, because they have the worst roads in the country by far.

They make medicine for depression. Exercise is a good natural remedy. I always get elated when I travel to work, because my city has made bicycle infrastructure a priority. These new bike lanes make my commute quite pleasant
THIS POTHOLE MAP COVERS THE ENTIRE CITY OF BUFFALO... making it easier to travel by bicycle then by vehicle.. They keep up the paved bike paths and to hell with the roads. Haha... Makes you wonder if its just another Govt controlling way of cutting back on emissions Wgrz.com | Buffalo, NY | Traffic
