Commuting to Tarrytown, NY (Monroe, Goshen: to rent, good schools, budget)

DH is on the new Tappan Zee Bridge project for 2-3 years. Looking to rent and stay at or below $2750 for 3/2 house. Good schools are important. I have a kindergartener and a 4 year old. My parents are in Fairfield County but our money goes farther it seems on the West side of the Hudson. So looking for advice on schools in Rockland and Orange counties and the commute over the bridge (work hours are around 7 am to 5 pm). We love the outdoors, I'm a runner and he's a mountain biker so Orange County appeals to me in that aspect. Thanks

A location along the Thruway seems ideal for you. Your high budget will also take you places.

Orange County spots to check out, from north to south: Cornwall, Central Valley, Monroe, Woodbury, Tuxedo

West from Monroe: Washingtonville, Chester, Goshen

All communities listed have good schools. Your husband shouldn't have a problem commuting since he'll be doing it early.

We do have many parks and outdoorsy areas in Orange County, so the running/mountain biking should be taken care of.
