I'm being offer a job position in two places. Both are seasonal during summer (SYEP site Monitor) both have not given me yet the salary so I decided to call in order to make my decision before signing any contract. I call first the one I got call first in and the conversation was as follow:

HR: May I know what salary does the other company is offering you?
ME: I do not know yet but I'm really interested in your company and that's why I decided to call you first.
HR: You say that our company is more on your side but you are considering your decision based on the salary, although I understand.

After she said that I really felt so disappointed but at the same time I asked myself if I did wrong by calling to ask the salary. I also contacted the other company which offer a $1 more. Also more hours and is in my state. I don't know yet If I got the job but they told me to bring in my personal information. (photo id, ssi, degree, etc and referrals)

I have two question:
What offer should I take and why?
Did I was wrong by calling them to know the salary in order to make a decision?

Both company look potential to me, but when the H.R told me the salary she said that based I have no experience in the position I have most likely the minimum wage. (I have six yrs doing related things)
