Hi! My husband and our 2 young children are looking to move out of Long Island. We are looking for someplace within a 1 hour train commute to Manhattan with good schools and a nice community. I am willing to go to CT or Upstate NY. Any suggestions?? Please help!

Perhaps the Rivertowns of Westchester County, Carmel, Brewster and MT. Kisco, among others.

Since she already lives on the island, I'd imagine $$$ isn't the issue. Could be wrong, though.

Anyway...thinking Westchester is your best bet - some where along Metro North's Hudson or Harlem Line.

Hudson Line locations worth investigating: Peekskill, Croton-on-Hudson, Ossining, Tarrytown, Irvington, Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, and Hastings

Harlem Line locations worth investigating: Katonah, Bedford, Mt. Kisco, Chappaqua, Pleasantville

You may want to post in the Westchester County forum to get a more detailed view on the county.

A little farther out than a hour train ride but several towns in Orange Co. are very nice. Goshen,Chester,Warwick etc. Cost of living less than Rockland or Westchester Countys. More of a small town feel and less crime.
