Any adivse would be great. Find your spot.com has come up with this spot
repeatedly for my wife and I ( taking the tests separately). I am looking for reseanable housing costs ( Research has found this 200 -235,000 range), low cost of living, good schools, and culture/things to do. What can you guys tell me and what is the job/career climate. My wife is a supervisor in the Developemental disabilities field, working with retarded adults and NYC/NYS is the place to be in that field....any help? Thank you for your time.

I have friends up there, basically everyone works at the prison. They love it there though. Many generations of families.

Also, I see you mentioned NYC. Plattsburgh is about as far away from NYC, both in the geographical and psychological sense; that you can be within the state of NY. It's actually much much much closer to Montreal than it is to NYC.

I don't live in Plattsburg, I'm from Rochester. I'm sorry though, I was under the assumption you were moving from another area of the country.

The prison is in Denemora close to Plattsburgh maximum security prison probably the worst of the worst there, I'minformed is right it's like on the Canadian border my friends had Canadian accents too. It's freezing cold there also. You may want to rethink this.

Move here. I did, from Brooklyn, and love it. There is a lot of institutional employment up here, but not sure what in particular would suit your wife. It's affordable, beautiful and surprisingly tolerant.

Default Plattsburgh

I'm from Ohio, Came to Plattsburgh in the early 60s. (military) My wife was born here. Lived in Md., Ind., and over seas. Moved here in 85. Winter can be bad but the other seasons make up for it. Lots of outdoor things to do in all seasons, Lake Champlain, The Adarondacks, Lake Placid, Whiteface mountain, Beautiful country. A short Ferry ride across the lake to Burlington Vt. Montreal Canada (big city)is only 62 miles away, 20 miles to the Canada border. Several Prisons within 50 miles. My son is a corrections officer at Clinton Correction Facility( Dannamora) The Hospital is large and growing every year, building new construction all the time. Many positions in your wifes professon, at the Prison, CVPH hospital, BOCES, and Private. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask me any questions, will try to answer.
