I travel 4 hours to property I have in Otsego county and I use the thruway, I90 and I88. I set the cruise for 69mph, even when I see a trooper on the in the median or tucked in on the side of the road I do not slow down. I can always count on the officer on rt88 near Duanesburg I still do not slow down.

Mind you I am aware of the new laws if a trooper is in the shoulder you must slow and move to the left.

So has anyone ever received a ticket either of those highways in non-construction, safe driving conditions or am I safe?

Never ever. I cruise at 72-75 and don't slow. Many trips from downstate to Oswego County for school (84-17-81-481) and vice versa and I have been fine.

It may depend on what tags are on the car... the pale yellow of NJ is always a radar target in neighboring states, just sayin'.

Hi Kioeh,
Your probably right about the plate.

For me though with all the electronics on board mpg and eta from the gps, I can see a substantial difference and benefit to the cruise set at 70 and the arrival time never really changes maybe 5 minutes on a 266 mile trip but I can always count on a traffic light or a toll booth or some other where I would loose the time.

But at 70mph I am relaxed and get good mileage.

Although many times I have to not look in my mirror when I get back below rt84 because of the person on my bumper.

How is 17? I have thought to take it just to break things up 87 - 84 - 17 - 88 but I don't want a long slow road.

17 past the Montgomery/Bloomingburg (or just slightly past Middletown) is a pain in the rear. Curvy, hilly, and poorly lit. It goes down to a 55 mph in Delaware County. A long road it is...but you can choose your speed...no cops...just don't go past 70 in those 55's for your own safety.
