Okay so im 17 years old and I live in Wappinger Falls. I just got accepted to Berkeley College in White plains. I tend to live in the dorms but on my breaks I would like to come home. But ! I don't want to have to drive because I will not be taking my car with me, im leaving it for my sister. I plan on taking the train from Wappinger Falls/Poughkeepsie (New Hamburg train Station) to White Plains. But the problem is... my mom never had let me gone on a train. EVER !!!! so i would like anybody to help me get directions or the best route to go from Wappinger falls to White plains and then White plains to Wappinger Falls.

The train option is dicey because White Plains is on the Harlem Line and New Hamburg is on the Hudson. I believe there is a bee line bus connection in Tarrytown to White Plains, but making the bus connection and train connection can be messy.

Too bad you cannot drive because White Plains is an easy 1 hour drive.

Why doesn't she let you on the train? Metro North would probably be your best bet here... White Plains / North White Plains -> Grand Central & Grand Central -> New Hamburg

Metro-North is not the subway nor the LIRR. Out of the other two railroads in our region (NJT, LIRR) Metro-North has the best customers, employees, management etc. They really know how to run a railroad correctly.

You can't get from New Hamburg to White Plains on the train. The Hamburg stop is on the Hudson train line. The White Plains stop is on the Harlem line. What you can do is take the train from New Hamburg to Tarrytown and then take a cab or Bee Line bus to Berkeley College (both are plentiful). Berkeley may ever offer some type of shuttle from the Tarrytown train to the campus. A good resource is www.westchestergov.com. Good luck to you.

A greyhound bus or you will have to go to Brewster train. Or take train to nearest town on Hudson line such as Hawthorne or Tarrytown.

the only way by train is to take the hudson line to 125th street and the harlem line to white plains, which is around 2.5 hours. you can take the dutchess county loop bus Map Your Loop Route from wapppinger to poughkeepsie and transfer to a bus to pawling and then the train from pawling to white plains.

The simplest way is to take the train from New Hamburg to Tarrytown. You may have to transfer at Croton-Harmon, because a lot of express trains bypass Tarrytown.

At Tarrytown, take the BL-13 to White Plains.

It's the simplest and quickest way, and you have the better frequencies (Compared to going to/from Pawling).
