Hi my family is moving to LA from NY and we're looking for an inter-state moving company. We've been getting different estimates from various companies, the rates were just all over the places and some of them sounded like scams. Can you please recommend a trust-worthy one to us? Thanks!

Always check recommendations against the Moving Scam Blacklist website. Triple check any company that has a Florida or NY address.

I had a reccomendation from someone and went with that company and ended up in a bad situation anyway. Luckily I didn't lose any money, but it was close.

May I ask, why should one triple check a company with a Florida or NY address?

I think I remember when I was doing research on such things that something about state laws in those 2 states made it easier for these companies to get away with scams. I can't find anything easily now that supports that, though, so Iguess take it with a grain of salt.

I did find this blacklist report, though, which lists a number of scammy moving companies -- it's a long list and every single mover is in either FL or NY. So I do think there's something to this theory.
