Help! Found a place in the bowery/chinatown area. I love my neighborhood but the apartment I found there is crappy. I work in the financial district and have many friends in brooklyn so in that sense its good.

In addition I found an inexpensive apartment (for Manhattan's standards) on the upper west side. I love that neighborhood but not as much as the bowery/ chinatown one. Theres more wealthy older folks than young hipters as suppose to downtown so its not as much of my niche. WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE??

I'd say that a lot depends on how long you are planning on remaining a hipster. The hipster thing is ok for a few years but eventually it gets tiresome and you graduate to the real world where your living environment and being comfortable is more important. When that happens you no longer want to live in a crappy environment.

Maybe the fact that you can already see that the Bowery place is "crappy" is a sign that you are already beginning to undergo the inevitable metamorphosis.

Agree 100%. I would personally choose the Bowery. Couldnt afford it unfortunately. If you could stay in a cheaper apartment and save money then spend that on a nicer apartment that might be a good idea.
