I would love to do some thrift shopping while I'm in the city next week. Does anyone know of any good thrift stores? I'm staying in Queens, but'll probably make trips to the other boroughs as well. All suggestions are appreciated!

ETA: I saw a Salvation Army on Steinway Street in Queens (34-02 Steinway I believe is the address). All I gathered from reviews is that it's huge. Any other feedback?

one just opened up on W 234th street between Broadway and Kingsbridge Ave in the Bronx(can't recall the name); it replaced the Old Annie Sez store

Housing Works Thrift Shops

Housing Works Thrift Shops are some of THE best in the City. Designer clothes, antiques, etc. There are also some great ones on the Upper East Side.

Have fun!

Designer duds---my favorite part of thrift shopping is finding neat outfits for a fraction of the price!

I read reviews on that one at TheThriftShopper.com. Sounds right up my alley. Thank you!

You are very welcome. These types of places fit my motto - Reuse, Recycle and Refurbish! My whole apartment is filled with their stuff. The best second hand stores are in wealthy neighborhoods - NYC, Paris, LA, etc.

Have fun!

Here are a few I am aware of - and keep in mind they would probably be considered more vintage stores then thrift stores so they will be a little more expensive.

Zachary's Smile on Christopher St.

Memorial Sloan Kettering Thrift Shop 3rd and 81st

AUH2O 7th between 1st and 2nd

The Goodwill Store on 23rd and Lexington in Chelsea

There is one I have been to several times but I can't remember the name.....It is on 14th street on the toward Union Sq walking from the A Train......anyone?
