I've been to Hotel Penn for conferences, workshops and other work related events. It's kind of a dump. Dingy and old. I'm all for preservation but wouldn't be sorry to see this one go.
Historic preservationists, architects and civic leaders hope to stop the irony of destroying landmarks, officially designated or not, from destruction in the effort to beatify and expand transit options at Penn Station.

Been there a couple of times. A zillion years ago I used to work in that neighborhood. Would be happy to see it go. If they allowed implosions in NYC, I'd happily push the plunger on the detonator myself (and, yes, I know it doesn't really work that way any more.)
Would not miss this one at all. It's a dingy, creepy place.
Isn't it? It reminds me of The Shining except that hotel looked nicer.

It's a dark, dingy, dusty place.
The only thing worthwhile is the diner attached to it. Otherwise it's just awful and gives me the creeps.
