Jeesh. So does that mean you can be sitting outside on a park bench talking to someone who is infected and still get this damn virus?
While it is true a very small portion of Chinese people eat weird animals, the vast majority never do. It also depends on region. People in south China (e.g. Guangdong/Canton) tend to have more "diverse" sources of food.
My father was born in China and always lives in China. He does not even eat lamb or duck, because he is not used to the taste/odor. To him, only pork, beef and chicken are acceptable.

I know that. My daughter lived in both Chengdu and Beijing. The foods were different from each other. She liked the Sichuan food best. She is a vegetarian anyway.

If I am honest I believe the government does not have this under control and they are trying to ease the public into a lock down. From the beginning they have been telling people not to panic but all of their actions is showing how serious this situation really is.
