I live in the city and am looking for monthly day parking in Midtown East. I've searched Google but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Have you tried http://www.nycgarages.com ???????
It lists all daily and monthly parking prices and locations. I travel to the city from NJ alot so use it for daily parking, but notice that it has monthly.

There are a couple or even a few garages in the 34th Street West area. I parked my car on Fridays only in a building on 33rd Street between 8th and 9th Avenues, for a reasonable amount and I know they have monthly parking rates.

Two other lots are nearby. One is on 32nd Street and 8th Avenue, open-lot just opposite the General PO; and another is on 9th Avenue I believe also on 33rd Street.

The lot on 33rd Street (1st mentioned) is a closed, underground lot. When I was last in the City, they were offering discounts for those working in the area.

Good luck.

Midtown EAST: there are several in the low 40s around First and Second Avenues. Is there a reason you WANT to drive in NYC?

Default Where to park my big van?

I have a large family (10 kids, one wife, one mother-in-law) and we travel in a 15-passenger van (92 Dodge B350). We have tickets for a show at Radio City at Noon on Friday Dec 28th. We are driving to the show from my wife's mothers place in Princeton NJ and I am trying to figure out where I can park my van somewhere near the theatre. I have tried all the NYC parking web sites I can find, called around a bunch of parking garages, and none of the parking garages I have talked to will allow vans. I have investigated taking an NJT train in from Princeton instead oif driving, but with my crew that is would cost me about $300.00. Therefore I am hoping I can find parking in the city. ANyone have a suggestion? Thx Popof10

you can drive to the port imperial ferry in weehawken which is accessed via the lincoln tunnel approach, watch the signs for last exit in NJ, take a left at the first light after exiting. they ferry is about $5-6 per person and on the manhattan side they have a free shuttle that will take you very close to radio city, after the show you can wander around and then catch that shuttle bus back to the ferry terminal

10 Kids! You would be one of the only people in NYC where its actually more cost effective and convenient to drive!

How about this. Drive to Harrison, NJ. Park in one of the lots there (its like $5 per day, and its a lot not a parking garage). Alternatively you can find street parking, 12 hours for $4. If you try to do this, just remember to bring the $4 in quarters.

Then from Harrison get on the PATH to the city. Costs $1.50 per person. You have to switch lines at Journal Square (free transfer, just walk 100 feet from one tunnel to the next one), and then ride that PATH up to 34th St. Total ride on the PATH is about 30 minutes. Once you are at Penn Station/34th Street walk over to Radio City (20-25 minute walk I'm guessing).

EDIT: To save even more cash you could purchase a 20 quick trip card for the PATH for $24. I'm not sure if you can pass the card back on the PATH. I know you can pass back a metro-card, but I've never seen anyone do something like that with more than 4-5 people.
