from stove maker & city.

The woman whose toddler sparked a 2017 Bronx blaze that killed 13 people and whose own actions might have fanned the deadly flames is now demanding a total of $1.1 billion — citing the “negligence” of others!

You've got to be kidding me.

My opinion:
The only person that should be sued is the lawyer taking on this case.
It's people like this that gives liars ,I mean lawyers a bad name.

Very sad story. All those lives,Foxx.

So smoke alarms were not installed in the apartment and all the others?

Self closing fire doors are supposed to slam shut, did she have a dead bolt sticking out?

Were the gas meters in fact leaking?

The other folks that lost loved ones should not sign any papers until they are legally represented. Are the others sueing too? They should,if the facts are true.

What about the fire escapes?another way out?

Can we really blame a 3 years old toddler? Remember terrible 2s, they run around like crazy, a parent cant hardly use the bathroom. Some safety knobs for the stove should have been purchased by mom. Some stoves do have a design that have child proof lock outs. Doubt it is legally required thou.

So mom should have had safety knobs for the stove, working smoke alarm, rang all the door bells like crazy, screaming fire, 911 should have been called asap.

Building should have a monthly/yearly log of building defects. But who knows how weak is managment, how cheap is the owner.

Gas leaks should never happen. If it's for real and proven, $$$$.

RiP to the deceased.

For real.

Btw, the Red Cross hands them out (smoke detectors) for free (at festivals or in schools whenever they give free lectures on fire safety along with the FDNY).

Everyone seems to be on the same page about this women

She better hope she gets a settlement because no jury will have an ounce of sympathy for her. The 13 victims and their families are going to get what they deserve

"The mom “puts them in front of the TV to watch cartoons and goes to take a shower. She takes her time, 20 minutes maybe,’’ a source said.

“She comes out, sees all smoke coming out of the kitchen,’’ the source said. “She says, ‘Holy sh-t!’ grabs the two kids and runs out the door.’’

The mom left the apartment door open in her rush to escape, Nigro said. This allowed the 6:51 p.m. blaze at 2363 Prospect Ave. to quickly spread up the stairwell to the top of the five-story, 26-unit building, turning it into a “chimney” of smoke and flames and trapping residents inside, he said."
