Hi all, please list and rank nyc community colleges here.
with bama's plan to waive CC tuition, i am planning to have my kid attend a top cc and then transfer to suny or cunny to.take advantage of the tuition benefit.
so please....
Here in NYC, community colleges vary. In the Bronx you have Bronx Community College and Hostos Community College. In Queens there is LaGuardia Community College and Queensboro. In Brooklyn there is Kingsboro Community College. Last, Manhattan has two community colleges known as BMCC and Guttman. Have your child do well in a community college and from then on transfer to a senior institution private or public. President Obama announcement on making Community College free has now made the associates degree the new high school diploma. The college bubble is on the verge of imploding on itself and can spiral the US economy into another recession.

Look as EXCELLENT as community colleges are, nobody gives a rats behind of what CC you go to. All of those schools admit just about anything off the streets. Just pick a program that fits your needs and go for the gold! I'm a CC grad but they just weren't meant to be ranked like that!

Not going to sugar coat it. They are all horrible schools. Though Laguardia and Bronx are the worst, so stay away from those two.

Number 1, 3, 4 and 5 are not even CC's. ? And you rated BMCC better than Baruch...?

Don't be silly, he mentioned it as talking point. It is not even close to being a reality. It took what 6 yrs of his presidency to launch the ACA, how long do you think this will even be a reality.
Bmcc is probably the best bet for community college in the city. Avoid Kingsborough in Brooklyn, avoid Bcc and Hostos community college in the Bronx. Also do not put community colleges down on resumes, they will get overlooked by private sector employment

Good advice on omitting it. But there are companies, particularly very prestigious financial companies, that will actually match up your resume with you college transcripts after they make you an offer of course. You need to fill out a form listing your full education background and then they'll match that up with your resume and your college transcript that they will obtain from your school. If they find any discrepancies you would need to provide a full explanation.
