I own my studio so I pay maintenance, not rent.

But to answer the question --- fair market rent for my studio, if I were to sublet it would be about $2200-$2500/month.

The apartment is in a doorman building in the West Village and is a co-op.

I deleted my post because I didn't want EastBoundandDownChick trying to find out where I live without her sending me a pic first.

Either way you're paying something monthly with maintenance/mortgage, makes no difference unless its all paid off but then its only maintenance and taxes, so essentially you're always paying something monthly lol.

True. But as my mortgage is paid off, I pay only $920 in maintenance (admittedly a tad high for a small studio). Therefore the way I figure things I'm paying $920 for an apartment worth > $2000 month. Plus I have all the equity. Seems like a good deal to me.

This is the range. Any idea what the median price is?

How does this compare to the popular sections of other boros. Like Riverdale and Pelham Pkway in the Bronx, Astoria, Jackson Heights, LIC, Forest Hills Queens, and Crown Heights, Bedstuy, Prospect Heights, Parkslope, Boreum Hill or others in the boros?

As a former client of mine who went from owning to renting told me (something along the line of) " you spend $100,000's of dollar or more over many yrs just you you can pay maintence which is probably $1000-$1500 or less in monthly rent and sound important cause you own something. Plus have to pay for repairs, taxes and god know what's else"

As long as it works for you. That's a good thing.
