I know sometimes videos can't capture certain aspects of the feel of a city.

Is the walking experience tour video a reasonable representation of what it would be like to walk through Manhattan?

Yes, but it would be better if you got a steadicam mount. The bouncing makes it hard to watch for more than a couple of minutes.

Oh no it's not my video. I was just asking if this was what it would feel like, if I were to visit New York.

I've had a look at various videos and it was the most comprehensive one I could find. I was wandering if it made the city look more depressing than it actually is.

It’s raining and unusually empty. He may have recorded it on a Sunday. Midtown is far more crowded that that during the week. Also, he only recorded one small part of the city—and certainly not the most picturesque part. Downtown: Flatiron/Gramercy, The Village, SoHo, the High Line, etc., are much more interesting for walking.
