I'm Having a Hard time finding a room to rent in Manhattan! I have been scouring craigslist for a room to rent in Tribeca, Chelsea, Downtown etc. But I have not been finding anything. My budget is $800 tops.

Do you think that my budget is too low??

Does anyone know of any sites other than craigslist that I can find a room to rent??

Thanks in advance

YES! Start your price at $1200 and maybe you can find something. $1000 "MAY" be possible but I wouldn't count on those area's or anything great. Really your range needs to be $1200-$1500 for a roommate situation in those prime Manhattan areas. If you can only afford $800 you gotta go to the Heights, Brooklyn, Queens, etc

I was trying to stay away from those areas. I guess I will try a higher price range!

I agree with livingsingle, if you can spend $800 tops you'll need to look in the boroughs. In Brooklyn you should probably cross places like Park Slope off your list.

Look into sunset park, bay ridge, or bensenhurst of Brooklyn. I'm assuming you want to get to downtown Manhattan. All those neighborhoods are about 30-45 mins away from lower manhattan.

tribeca for $800...lol.

Whatever you saw for $875 in park slope was probably a scam or a dump. That's well below the market rate.

Shawn is renting out an apt in Murray Hill. $650 but beware this is way below market rate. This is too good to be true. Includes parking.
