Does anyone know much about the large apartment complex on 238th between Johnson and Riverdale Ave.?
One question I have is about parking. Is it a huge hassle in that area?
Any input appreciated.

The complex that you are referring to is Fieldston Gardens. It is a co-op. There are other buildings in the area that have a garage either near or on the premises. For this cooperative however, I have never seen one, nor do I know of one. If you are really concerned about parking there, the best thing to do is see if you can do some research on the cooperative about parking. Parking in the immediate area is possible depending on when you are coming and going, but if you really want a piece of mind, you should look into nearby garages, which are plentiful in the area.

If you are interested in prices there, from what I've heard from other friends who live here and have seen online, they seem fairly reasonable. However, maintenance in most co-ops and condos in Riverdale are more in line with what is charged in Manhattan, so they tend to be on the higher side.

If you would like more particulars about the area, feel free to e-mail me. Best of luck!

Considering how many co-ops are there along Johnson Avenue (there are several co-ops between 236th and 238th and Johnson plus a condo, Congressman Engel's office and other businesses nearby on Henry Hudson Parkway and Riverdale Avenue, it could be much worse. Some of the spots are taken by visitors naturally and delivery cars as well, but there are times in which parking spots open up. It all depends on when you are coming and going.

without a garage or at least a private parking lot, your car will be, in all likelihood, either stolen, broken into, or smashed up within a three year period. consider larchmont, tarrytown, or dobbs ferry, perhaps.
