What do you think about the area? Is it safe? All I know is that the commute is awful over an hour at least. Any comments are appreciated thanks guys

I think it's pretty safe.

A tip for the commute: Some people say the shuttle is really bad, so you're better off taking the Q53 to Rockaway Blvd and then catching the (A) there, because you have the option of the Lefferts Blvd (A) & the Far Rockaway (A).

During rush hour, there are 5 (A) trains that directly serve Rockaway Park, so if you can time yourself for one of them, it might not be too bad.

There's also the QM16 express bus, as well as the QM17 express bus from that area. They bring you directly to Midtown, and you can doze off for the ride. (They only run rush hours, though)

Just try out the different routes and see which one suits your commute the best.

That area is a hit or miss. They have been building a lot of new homes around that area but the area still looks pretty run down and beat up. BCHS is nearby and the students there can cause problems. You go further down Rockaway Park and the area becomes much nicer.
