Yeah I did. It's the most dangerous title in the system. Almost impossible to get a life insurance
policy if you work that job. The last track worker exam(5016)was in 2006, (7,916 eligibles) and
it was extended to next year.

I don't know the status of the list, but they barely cracked the #1,000 mark last time
I checked a few months ago.

I also believe that there is a promo to track worker exam, so they have to go through that list first
before they call from the open competitive list.

Sure I can lift 90 lbs but it's a different story when you are walking on tracks near the 3rd rail.

Does anyone have stories of their work experience as a MTA track worker? I recently applied for the examination as well. I'm very skeptical if this might be a great opportunity, decent opportunity, or horrendous one. I believe pay is pretty good considering it does not need any previous experience or college education; however, is it worth it?

It's not an easy job. Heavy lifting working in tunnels that are hot as hell in the summer, bitter cold in the winter, rats everywhere, or working outide in the rain, snow heat & cold or dark of night, live 3rd rail & last but not least speeding train's barreling down on you.
