Everyone knows that New York City is one of the music capitals in America. But most people in New York City don't have cars.
So then, how do all those musicians go from one place to another in the city with all those keyboards, amps, guitars, drumsets, mixers, racks, etc.? Do they take those on the subway?
I've see people cary every single instrument--including tubas, bass drums, and double basses--on the subways and buses. Bigger or more complicated stuff people wil take a cab, use a friend's car, or rent a Zip car.

You're describing a band and not individual musicians. The band will either own a van or rent a van to move all the equipment to a venue. The venue usually sets up an area to park it until the gig is over.
