I am going to be living in an apartment on Ocean Ave right by where it intersects with Parkside Ave. I haven't spent much time around this area and wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts. It seems like the park is right next door and it's one block away from the Q which is great. Any advice or opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks....

Used to be a pretty bad area but it's improved greatly, I still would use some caution at night time in the area however. A person used to living in a high-crime or above average crime area would feel absolutely feel comfortable living there. It's kinda like the West Indian version of Washington Heights, but with a little less overall crime.

The park will be nice. Dining/nightlife/bar scene is limited. Q can be a pain, and be ready to take cabs from Atlantic Ave if you tend to go out late. Get a bike to make trips to somewhat nearby neighborhoods like Prospect Heights, Park Slope, etc. quicker and easier.
