Bloomberg pushed for some changes in ingredients involving trans fats used in cooking at restaurants. Since these have gone in effect, have you noticed any change in the way food tastes at local restaurants?

I haven't noticed, but I get the feeling it will effect bakeries more than other restaurants. Baking substitutes like margarine and shortening with hydrogenated oils have a TON of trans fat in it. Meanwhile butter itself has a small amount and is much healthier than margarine.

When I eat out it's at a restaurant that uses real butter to begin with so I'd probably never notice.

Sadly this will probably open the door to banning everything "sinful" like salt, or anything with flavor for that matter.

If you are allergic to butter you bake with margarine.
