This is a matter so subject to varying opinion that it becomes pointless to debate. Many people think the city is full of attractive women/men/people. You don't. Perhaps you're looking in the wrong place. Perhaps your standards of attractiveness are warped by unrealistic expectation propagated by the media, by advertising and movies and television and pornography. Perhaps attractive women spot you first and then hightail it the other way when they see you.

Either way, what you say doesn't discount my original statement, which is that bashing fat women in general is nasty and pointless. You may find it hard to believe, but many people find fat women attractive. (My boyfriend sure does.) You don't, and that's totally cool, you definitely don't have to! But hatred of fat women doesn't seem to be landing you any skinny women, so, like, why do it?

Many ppl seem to think that obesity is always a result of unhealthy nutrition, and often it is but not always. "Hormonal inbalance or dysfunction syndrome" is one major factor.

NYC is chicky paradise. Lots of professions dominated by women are centered there, and there are many eligible bachelors to vye for. Same old story that dates back to the olden days.

Yes. There are many factors that influence the propensity towards obesity (and genetics is a huge one), and it is impossible to tell just by looking at someone what causes their obesity. You may think you know - but trust me, you don't.

Rather than treat it as a moral failing, why not allow everyone their humanity and save your judgment for more reliable moral ground, like murderers and child molestors and people who put their bag on an empty seat on the subway?

Yep, from medications (steroids, insulin, etc...) , menopause, a long list of diseases, and the wealth of metabolic disorders docs don't know enough about to treat- let alone cure- there's probably a silent majority of people who fall under those categories.

Still I've seen plenty of people, men and women, who would be considered overweight and they were extremely attractive.

Out of all the criticism Ive ever heard of NYC Ive never heard someone say we don't have attractive woman. Especially with the huge diversity so many models, wannabe actresses and singers.

Default Quit apologizing

(wow, I never thought my total level of jackassed-ness could be qualified into words, but there it is!)

Quit apologizing. You are not asinine. You are telling the truth. Men AND women ignore most members of the opposite sex. They barely notice a few, truly notice fewer still, would speak to fewer still, would date far fewer, would date for a second time far, far fewer. In other words, things narrow down pretty fast! Age has a lot to do with this. A certain percentage of women used to give me a second glance. Now that I'm old, all women look right through me. Are they being "age-ist"? Nope, they are not even thinking. They are operating on the level of instinct. We may not always like instinct, but it's honest. As is your post!

BTW, a related issue. People say that women have trouble marrying because they so much outnumber men. Women outnumber men because they turn into old ladies while men are dying young. But men don't want to marry old ladies, so old ladies should not be counted when adding up the competition. The numbers of men and women in the desirable years are close to equal.

See it all depends on your criteria. For me, for a city to be crowned a "hot chick capital", there needs to be a high percentage of above-average looking women in the majority of residential neighborhoods, therefore, I don't include women who frequent downtown areas or tourist traps in the final decision..and the truth is, you're average everyday woman from New York City (the 5 boroughs) are nothing to brag about. I've ran across more attractive chicks in Lithonia, GA than I have in most parts of Brooklyn. IMO, the borough with the highest percentage of attractive women is Queens. Keep in mind that what's hot for me, may not be considered "hot" by the next man, it's all subjective, so take the analysis with a pinch of salt lol.
