How difficult is it to get cheap Broadway tickets the day of the show? I'll be in NYC in a few weeks and would love to go to a Broadway show but I don't want to spend the amount I've seen online. Do they offer discount tickets when they have trouble filling seats?
they'd rather see the same question answered a million times over.
great way to cater to the million tourists questions rather than the people who live here.
All of the above sites give you info on the shows and great discounts.
With these sites, you can print out the discount coupon or code and go right to the theater box office and pick the seats you want. We got Young Frankenstein seats this way. The show was completely sold out, no chance in heck of getting tickets. Well, as I was standing there with my discount code, the woman at the booth tells me "you're in luck, we just got a cancellation and they are PERFECT seats!". We ended up in THE perfect orchestra seats at a 40% discount!
As long as I've been going to B'way shows, I've never used TKTS. Why? I hate standing on a loooooong line and "hope" I can get tickets (with decent seating) for the show I want.
You can avoid the long and crazy lines for at TKTS in Time Sq by using the TKTS booth downtown Manhattan near the South Street Seaport. It is far, far less of a zoo than the Times Sq location and I highly recommend it. The address is 199 Water St. take the A, 2 or 3, to Fulton St and walk over toward the Seaport.
