Where did I say the OP did NOT have a job??? I'm asking more about what skills/degree(s) the OP has. If their job is, for instance, at the McDonald's near the airport, they are going to need help. Why are you so concerned with my questions? They are reasonable and they came to the forum for advice.

You said it right here! And fyi, the guy says he needs to be near Laguardia because his job requires significant travel. Does it sound like he is making french fries?

How would it "sound" like he's flipping burgers or managing billions of dollars by reading his reply in a forum? Use a little bit of common sense. Don't ever assume. He should just consider all of the questions. Perhaps I should have reworded my original post, but it's Friday and I'm burnt. I find it strange that you're actually obsessing over it.

Stop misquoting me. I did not say it sounds like he is flipping burgers OR managing billions of dollars. I DID say, however, that it sounds like he is NOT making french fries. This is a logical assumption to make when someone says their job requires significant air travel. If you can't make that leap, then it makes me wonder why you think you are so smart -- something you have said numerous times in those job threads.

Can you please keep the job issues to the job threads; there are plenty of them. This guy simply needs help finding a neighborhood to live in because of his JOB that requires air travel near Laguardia airport, and you seem to think "helping" him find a different job, other than the one he already has that is bringing him here to live near Laguardia, is the helpful thing to do in this thread. Here is another hint: it is not helpful!!!

You zoned in on it and now you're freaking out? Grow up dude. It's a forum and if you can't handle what others post then don't reply to them. I gave my advice on the neighborhood. Get a grip lol.

BTW, I just gave you some reputation points for the theatrics and hissy fit.

I was actually thinking of moving to Jackson Heights myself to buy a condo.

Anyone have any recommendations for a nice clean, safe area that's primarily indian/muslim/asian, less congested and reasonably priced between 200-300k?

200-300k is definitely doable. Just stay below 82nd street, preferably as that is generally nicer. If you can get something in the 70s then you're golden. Look on Realtor.com :-) You could get a nice 2 bedroom.

Look around 74th St to 80th Street north of 37th Ave (between 37th ave and 34th AVe). I don't know if I would say these areas are primarily Indian/Muslim/Asian because the area is more diverse than that, but the area I mentioned is close to the Indian etc. area and is nice and non congested. If you want to live in the Indian etc area, you are going to be in a congested area that imo is not so nice. [That would be in the low 70s streets around Roosevelt/37th Ave/35th Ave)

The areas above 80th St. up to about 88th St. between 37th Ave and Northern Blvd can be lovely as well.

In fact a few of my favorite streets are 86th St. and 87th between 34th and 35th Ave but they are not really primarily the ethnic groups you are looking for. There is still a huge mix of ethnicities but you will find many more Spanish speakers and whites than Indian etc. in the 80s streets.

As for your price range, you can get yourself a very nice COOP for that price. Not so for a condo, which tend to be much more expensive. I suppose it may be possible to find a condo for $300K (?) but I think they are more like $400K. A 2 bedroom condo will be around 450K. There aren't very many condo buildings in Jackson Heights as buildings are mainly coops. You can look at Stratford Hall, the Colton, and Leverich street, as well as Plaza 75 (which is actually in Elmhurst not JH) but I can't recommend any of them personally.

Two good places to look at photos are on local realtor sites "Jackson Heights Properties" and "MPC Properties."
