Hello everybody! I will be working in Midtown for a financial advisory firm from August and I plan to move to the city in the beginning of summer.

I looked at many neighborhoods, and I really like Astoria. I also heard it is a decent place for 20-30 year olds.

I plan to get a roommate, but I have no idea where to start it.

Should I rent a 2 bedroom apt. by myself first and then look for a roommate?

Thanks

Is your job going to pay the broker fee? Bankers Trust (before they became Deutsche Bank) did that in the 1990's. Anyway, my suggestion is Craigslist and/or try to befriend city-data.com members in the finance forum and put the word out. https://www.city-data.com/forum/busin...nce-investing/ Finance should stick with finance because you can chat about the markets and you can network mutually. When questioning potential roommates, the key probing questions in my opinion will reveal who's a heavy partier/drinker and who's not. You can ask "What's your favorite beer?" etc

yknow what, i shouldn't have asked that 1st question as the opener to my response - it was kind of rude. i was curious about how muchor little times have changed since the early 1990s. peace.

I have this question too. I know there are a lot of websites that have generic roommate listings, but I'm not sure which to explore. In my opinion, your roommates can either make or break your initial experience somewhere, so I'd really like to get to know different potential roommates ahead of time and hopefully share common interests and such.

Has anyone had success with any particular website or other avenue to finding roommates in their same field/interests/et cetera?
