You'll be fine. Adam Clayton Powell (aka 7th Ave) is quiet and residential in that area, other than some corner bodegas. The next avenue west, Frederick Douglass, is a bit more commercial and has a number of newer, more upscale restaurants.

That place is fine it is actually really nice and not too far from the main columbia campus a lot of college kids and in the winter you can skate at lasker
