I haven't really been east of the Concourse to areas like Ryer, Thebout, and Valentine but those areas are full of murals and are pretty terrible nowadays. But I can't really speak on it as much.

E. 183rd in East Tremont I rarely visit so I don't know about it.

Im way more familiar with the west side and maybe that is why I say it's the worst but I haven't really "hung out" on the east side so I rather just call the whole strip bad, especially if it continues like the 183rd I know.
i can definitely tell you tiebout and valentine are crap. valentine ave will make top 10 worst streets in the bronx list. my mother used to get her hair done on tiebout ave in the 80s and it was crackhead city. theres a step street around tiebout cant remember exactly where but i hated walking there.

You know that my sister's finaces lives on Thebout & E 184th and when I went over, I expected it to be alot worse than it actually was. It was definitely the hood and had plenty of drug dealers but I was used to that on my block. I guess my hood tolerance is up but I would also put that area in the top 10 worst.

But I don't really go over there just cause I don't like leaving my block. But the Valentine area is definitely one of the worst areas of lower Fordham. Funny thing is that it's also one of the worst areas in upper Fordham ( E. 194th & E. 196th).

Just thinking about the insane amount of shootings, drugs, and homicides the E. 183rd & Morris area ( the E. 180's and Creston, Ryer, Valentine, Thebout) provided the city with from 1987 to 1993 makes my head spin.

Nooo. I would not advice wandering around there at night, but during the day you should be fine. Work there but live at Kolping,

Just for the record this is the CENTRAL Bronx, not the South Bronx. But I like the discussion as I know little of the area other than the horror stories everyone conveys. Can anyone provide anything good or redeeming about the area? Maybe the housing stock? Food? Transportation? Activities? Green Space? Anything!
