how does a waitlist lottery work? if we get selected, submit documents, and get approved, will we will have to wait to get an apartment instead of signing the lease and paying first's month and security?
Another data point: log # 2xx, HC asked for documents on 8/10, submitted my stuff a few hours later on 8/10. Trying not to get my hopes up for this one.

Would I still have to wait despite being approved?
Single digit log number.

UPDATE 08/15/23:
Got rejected today because "minimum income for one person is $60,926". However, this applies only to one studio in their listing. My income should fit in the range of 5 studios and 23 1BR.
I appealed. With the appeal process I fear I may have been kicked to the back of the line. Unfortunate as I had single digit log number and should have been able to view and pick a 1BR if available (#X for 28 potential apartments!!!).
Unless all they had available was that minimum $60,926 studio and the listing is complete BS, I should have been considered a solid candidate as I do fit in the advertised income ranges.
For now I'll move on and continue to keep an eye for future lottery listings.

Oh wow, I'm sorry you got rejected. I hope your appeal is successful. Johanna Ortega is my
File Analyst, if she is yours too for this lottery did she reach out to you via email?

I've noticed they don't update the listing for waitlist lotteries with which units are available and just post the original available units.
That may be why you got rejected (since there may not have been a unit you were eligible for).
