I am single, 30 years old and live in Charlotte, NC
I moved from PHx, AZ 6 months ago to be closer to family realizing I don't want them near me and I miss the west too much.
I loved NM every time I visited living in AZ.
I am single and would like to meet someone and work in Software sales and do part time personal training, just got my EMT ( I know I still dont know what I want to be when i grow up).
Any thoughts on Alberquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos for someone in my stage of life.
I love hiking, camping, exploring, indian ruins , all that.
I didnt like PHx, too big. Charlotte is too southern and crowded.
Just so you know, no town in New Mexico made Forbes list for being among the best places in America for singles to live. ;-) If you have your heart set on New Mexico, I recommend the west side of Albuquerque, Rio Rancho or Bernalillo for you. That way you will be able to get away to Santa and Taos when the mood strikes without having to fight the Albuquerque metro traffic. Your EMT credentials will probably be worth more on the west side of the city, probably more there than anywhere else in New Mexico.
Vitali, Durango, Colorado is a place you might consider. It is just north of the NM border and has the same southwest feel as NM. It has a large singles population, has mountains for hiking, lots of pro bikers live there, mountain climbers live there too. It has the Animas river with rafters, kayakers, tubers and fly fisherman. Several lakes are in the area. It has a good number of computer companies in the area, Mercury Payment for one. Software companies are moving there into their light industrial parks. Home computing firms are there too. Also there is the Anasazi Indian Ruins at Mesa Verde. There are a lot of apartments since it is also a college city and they are building lots of condos too. You can also live in the towns around there as it gets cheaper to buy a home out in the 'burbs and towns around Durango like Bayfield and Mancos.
I can only speak for Albuquerque. It's definitely not where I want to live. But I'm here and I'm making the best of it. You love to hike, camp, bike ride, ATV's, this is the place. Water is a little scarce, but other than that there are several opportunities to be active. Indian ruins are everywhere. Here we have Old town, just a little historic area downtown, with several shops, with indian pictures, jewelry, etc. Along I-40 west, there is Gallup, which has several stops along the way, inviting you to come stop by and see Indian ruins or shops.
