Very fine photos, BrianH! Yes, I do love Eagle Nest and that whole area. I've been to the Vets Memorial before...very moving. I haven't poked around Clayton Lake before; I'll have to look into it. Is the little bike a Kawasaki 454? I haven't seen one of those in a long time.
Cathy4017: What happened with motorcycles in your experience? I don't see how anyone can stand to live in NM and not have one.

With gas prices what they are, I've been giving them a serious look....I just want a small one, but one that I can ride 400 miles home on for Christmas.
When I was a freshman in high school back in the dark ages, I got behind someone who took the corners so sharply that the sides of my knees were close to scraping the pavement (so it seemed to me at the time).
I got off, shaking...and have not been on one since.
Do you have any suggestions as to what might be suitable?
Yes Catman she is a 1989 454! I got lucky and got her on the cheap early last year. When I got to Red River I didnt even hit the kill switch before somebody came over to talk to me about 454's he used to own. The other is a 750LTD and my friend has the 550LTD and I am looking at the 1000LTD too.
THe memorial was great. It takes away the figures of the war and gives em faces, very touching. THe scenery around the Enchanted Circle is absolutely fantastic. One of the few places that can touch Ireland's scenery IMHO.

Cathy, check out the scooters by Honda. I have a Helix (250cc) and Keith has a Reflex (also 250cc). Keith drove his Reflex down to Alamo on his trip.
I'm also a beginning driver, so didn't want anything too big.
We get about 70 mpg.
I'm willing to give you a ride when we get down there, or check out the Honda dealership in Alamo.
Cindy
