One of the reasons NM is “enchanting” is because it is so empty once you get out of the cities. Santa Fe is not the only great place to live in this state. There are others and some are different but nice. But I would hate to see this state get too crowded. The population is pretty stable around 2 million and, being a desert (mostly), it should try to discourage huge population growth. Water doesn’t grow on trees...and there are few trees in some places anyway.

I have been to the state 3 times. About 8 years ago I went to Colorado and we drove through. I went to the Carlsbad Caverns and it was definitely interesting although I felt claustrophobic and like it wasn't the place for me. Still a cool thing to experience.

Second time I went to Cloudcroft and thought it was amazing. Had no idea New Mexico had anything like that. Cloudcroft is lovely and I thought it would be a great place to own a second house. The downtown is cool and the mountains are incredible. Very secluded small town feeling. Didn't really talk to the people though.

Third time I, again, went to Colorado and drove through. This time I actually stayed the night in a Nat'l Park by Santa Fe and I was once again blown away. We checked out El Dorado and then downtown Santa Fe and it was a very cool place, although a bit too liberal for me. I imagine this might have something to do with people from places like California moving in. Anyways, the downtown was lovely and the architecture was incredible.

I definitely want to explore the area more but at this point I think I would only live in Cloudcroft or Alamogordo, at least out of those 4 places. I want to check out Ruidoso, Taos, and Alburquerque for sure.

That won't stop many people. Few people think " Gee, would it be good for the future of New Mexico's water situation if I move there too"? They think "if i buy a house and turn on the faucet, will water come out?" and if the answer is yes they will move here.

I just left Seattle yesterday, enjoyed 5 wonderful days there. If they are moving out, it could be to the outer suburbs. Traffic within the city and inner suburbs is very manageable, infrastructure seems to be in place. However, once we hit south of Auburn in the Puyallup River valley, things became untenable. I think the population is moving from the city to this area in such volume that the existing infrastructure can't keep up.

Traffic in Seattle is terrible, some of the worst in the country. People are probably staying home.

Not when it comes to shooting police officers, unfortunately.
