Not sure about house prices but I agree with you about Caballo Lake ...it's a very scenic nice area ...I think someday it will be "discovered" and prices will soar ...great climate too ....also I would check out Hillsboro...it is cute artsy place just to the west of Caballo on RT 152 (a very scenic rt thru the Black Range via Emory Pass ...elevation 8128' ) ....here are climate normals for both Caballo Lake and Hillsboro....

CABALLO DAM elevation 4190'

Both enjoy a mild sunny climate ...infact Caballo to Hatch area has lowest snowfall yearly average in NM ...only 2.2" at Caballo Dam !! ...also Hillsboro townsite is very "green" looking for it's elevation ...lots of big trees ...

There's properties along the old highway and in Arrey as well. Both close and sure to be relatively inexpensive. I usually fish Caballo since it's not as crowded as Elephant Butte. Also has less of the rowdiness. Not that thats bad, on ocassion! Sounds like a good plan you've got.

As a bonus you'll probably get to see some of the rockets blasting off from the spaceport.

You will be able to find whatever you want for sale in that area. I see
old mobile homes everywhere near the lake. I'm not sure how much they
sell for but you shouldn't have a problem. Also almost the whole town of
Hillsboro is for sale but for some reason the properties are very high priced.
You could even buy a restaurant or two there. It seems everytime gas
prices spike up the for sale signs go up. You will have approximately a
60 mile round trip to buy groceries in T or C so for some it really gets old.
I bump into those people every now and then. Also I think Hillsboro has
a trailer court or two that you can rent spaces. It is very pretty there an
it is on the way to Silver City but you have to cross thru some pretty high
mountains to get to Silver.

the area is on our - Look at list. From what I have heard the TofC area is a GSOU (Garden Spot of Universe), Actually, that is not very useful as much of NM is a GSOU.
