Can anyone tell me what the Parkway is like in the morning traveling from 151 in Montclair to 172 in Montvale? How is the traffic? Also, how is the commute in the afternoon? It always seems like there is a ton of traffic on the Parkway going south through Bergen County in the afternoon.
once you get north of route 80, the traffic should start to open up a bit. you might also see it slow down around the route 17 exit. overall though, i don't really think it should be too bad.
i haven't commuted on that part of the parkway in a long time though, so take my input with a grain of salt. if at all possible, the best thing for you would be to do the commute yourself a few times.
Traffic on the GSP Northbound will slow down at Exit 153 for Rt 3 in Clifton, and Exit 163 for Rt 17 in Paramus during the morning commute. Both are left lane exits. You'll also see some congestion the Saddle Brook tolls at Exit 159. Everything else is negligible.

Northbound is pretty decent. Southbound at 5 in the afternoon is worse--everything backs up in Paramus until you pass the Route 46 exit which backs up onto the Parkway.
Overall not a horrible commute--I could think of much worse commutes around here.
