I moved to Morris county last summer. I take the Morris & Essex lines to NYC for work but tomorrow will be the first time dealing with lots of snow on a workday. Based on your experience, how much of a cluster-f should I expect? Do they cancel trains? Have lots of NJ'ers been stranded at Penn Station before if it gets real bad? Any reason to expect Hoboken trains to be better/worse? Trying to come up with a game plan for the storm.
Every storm can have a different affect on trains. For the most part they can get through even when roads are too bad for cars, but all it takes is one spot along the railway to have a problem. All you can really do is just keep an eye and ear on the TV and radio, listen for commuting info, check the NJT website, etc. before you leave. If everything is still in motion then go and hope for the best. And be prepared to possibly or probably be delayed, and/or stranded as well, although it's unlikely you'd be stranded for more than a few hours, it's possible it could be even longer.
