How is the water quality in NJ? Especially in Bergen County? Is it necessary to get a water delivery such as Poland Spring to our house every month?

I know NY's water quality is much better but how bad is NJ? We're moving into our new house in a few weeks and planning to buy a fridge also. Not sure if the filtered water or ice is good option if the water quality is poor.

Advice please!

Btw, we boil our water to drink overall but does that help?

Call the water department for the place you are moving to. They provide annual water quality report.

You can always add a filter water system to your house instead of buying bottled watter.

Keep in mind if you drink only bottled water your kids' (if you have 'em) teeth won't get the benefit of flouride (if the district puts it in).

Sigh...still contemplating if we need bottled water...but it can get quite pricey. I heard that Lowes & Home Depot con people into getting the water filter system...

Get a frig with the filtered water and ice maker anyway. Always a good idea. Helps with the taste and is convenient.

I think the tap water is fine and ordering bottled water is a waste of money.

I won't drink out of my tap, but I will drink what is filtered through my fridge - definitely helps with the taste.

And when it comes to the flouride issue - check with your dentist to see what is recommended and then call up your town and ask (I believe it's in parts per million?) how your water compares. When my oldest child was a little younger my pediatrician pulled out a chart, asked me what town I lived in and told me that the amt of flouride in the water was ok. Spoke to my dentist about it a few years later, he told me what the ratio should be, called the town, and it was lower than the recommended amount. Had to put my kids on a flouride vitamin.

If you drink bottled water you also won't get the cancer that excessive fluoride causes.
