I live out in NW NJ (about 1/2 hr from Morristown).

I would like to catch a NJ transit train into NYC to take a bus to DC for a visit for a few days.

Where can I overnight park? Safely leave my car? Otherwise I have to pay for a taxi which can be $50 each way.

Any suggestions? I don't believe there are any regularly scheduled buses out of Morris or Hunterdon counties to Washington, DC so I have to go into NYC. Amtrak is way expensive and I'm not comfortable driving the Beltway.

Thanks.

Lucy

I would say do some research clicking the links from the NJ Transit website to see what the rules are for overnight parking.
Maybe Lakeland bus has some info on that.
Otherwise the only thing I can think of is the large Park & Ride lot where NJ-3, US 1&9 & I-495 meet.
Sometimes when I took a bus to the Big Yapple I would park west of there at this parking garage in one of the shopping centers and catch the bus from there since the parking was free.

maybe you can take a taxi to the nj transit train station? I dont think most overnight parking is avaiable at NJ transit stations, even the park & ride have time limitations.

Yes you park overnight (it's also the parking for The Hyatt). And if go eat at the Indian or see a movie they will validate your parking. OK I don't know if this would work having stayed there 3 nights but it might.

The beltway isn't that bad. Just try to avoid rush hour and study map/directions to be comfortable.

I'm a wimp on driving 4-5 hours. Can't park overnight in HQ Plaza.

I guess I leave car at Newark Airport and take Amtrak. Anybody familiar with where Amtrak is at Newark Airport and best cheap parking?

Lou

I have parked over night at the Hyatt, but while I was actually staying there.

They don't check on the way in if you are actually staying in the hotel or not. Just when you go to leave you need a validation stamp to leave for free, other wise you will be charged.

I know in other Motown lots...like the ones for shopping...the validation can be from ANY Morristown business. But I am not sure if the Hyatt lot has to be stamped by the Hyatt specifically.
