Help,

I take the ferry at Port Imperial twice a week heading into midtown, and I hit a great deal of traffic since I am in the flow of traffic with everyone heading into the Lincoln tunnel. Does anyone know any back roads to access the ferry? I am coming from Rutherford of Rt 3, merging into 495 to the weehawken ferry exit. I would also be open to driving ferrys that have less traffic heading to them. Thanks in advance!

Is there a reason you aren't taking the train from Rutherford to Penn Station or Hoboken?

Yeah it seems the train would be faster and cheaper for you. But the ferry is the civilized commute. If you must go by sea, you could join those who park at Tonnelle Avenue and take the HBLR to Port Imperial. For surface streets directly to the waterfront? IDK, try Google maps.

Thanks to you both.....I could take the train, and have done it a few times, however I work at the Javits Center, the ferry takes you only one block away. The service entrance that I need to go to behind the center is right across from the ferry. When i go to penn station i have a 10-15 minute walk in addition to the train ride, and I have to park and ride at the nj transit station. Depending on the weather and time of day I need to be at work, I will do the train. All expenses are reimbursed, so I am not too concerned with cost. I will take into consideration the tonelle ave option, I just want to explore all options since I am new to this area.
