There are so many better towns in Bergen County that offer good commute to the city. What is your price range?
i'm just wondering, why is Teaneck so bad? i hear quite a few bad things about that town on the city-data forum. a lot of bad things were said about Teaneck in another thread.

It's not "so" bad but you can get much better for this kind of money. Teaneck's schools are average at best and crime is pretty high - nothing violent but burglaries, auto theft, etc. Also, I don't like that Teaneck is such a "divided" town. They have a very large Jewish Orthodox community and a large black community and, as you can imagine, the two groups aren't the best of friends. Whenever I visit Teaneck, I can feel it and I wouldn't want to live in a town like that. There is no sense of community at all. Just my opinion, anyway.

The elementary schools in Teaneck are great. Tons of great, hard working, caring teachers. Most all of the town sends their kids to public elementary school (except for those wanting religious schooling regardless of quality of public schools). In middle school, the number of kids going to private schools rises a bit- and then more so again for HS. However, I truly think the elementary schools are awesome and that you would be hard pressed to find more dedicated teachers.
Teaneck is not your typical homogenous suburb, which is appealing to many people.
And apparently scary to many others in this post.
