Why is it that NJ has some of the craziest drivers? It seems like its always a race to see who can get ahead or who can take off fastest at a traffic light. A relative of mine just got into an accident. For months she has been driving with a camera on the dashboard just to have for insurance purposes in case anyone tries to lie. I think everyone should slow down and drive with a little more courtesy. The video below is one of many incidents that happened to her in the course of her driving. I'm sure we all deal with jerks like that every day. Note the typical NJ gesture of the woman in the other car.

New Jersey is known for having "bad drivers" because we're simply new jersey. we're the most densely populated state, of course our drivers are gonna be different from everyone else... duh! new jersey has some of the best drivers in the world actually. we have mastered the New Jersey roads. if you can master a New Jersey road than you can master almost any other roadway in the United States (except for maybe in Manhattan. driving in Manhattan is ridiculous!)
however, the driver in that video you posted the link to is just a complete dumb butt (butt is not the word I wanna use... thanks Bob Kovacs! haha, he's gonna get pissed about that, but i'm just kidding. he's a darn good moderator) sorry about that, anyways, yeah. where is this town Lakewood? I've definitely heard of it. is it south jersey, or is that Lakehurst? why does Lakewood have such bad drivers? there's several other videos on youtube of bad drivers in Lakewood.

Lakewood is a town located in Ocean county along Route 9. It is notable for it's Jewish population.
Lakehurst is further south along Route 73 in Ocean county. It's claim to fame is as the home to the Lakehurst Naval Air Station where the Hindenburg blew up.
I just moved to NJ from Miami. Miami won the trophy "worst/rudest drivers" for what, three years in a row? Let me tell you, NJ drivers are nothing compared to what you see down there. NJ drivers are fast, but at least most of them use turn signals and keep right. At least that's what I've experienced so far
Oh and btw, wtf is up with the roads up here? I've never seen basketball-sized holes in a road before... where does all the tax money money go? lol
If i lived in NJ, i think i'd go insane driving on their roads. I'd rather deal with driving in midtown NY, than NJ roads. Who the hell devised this bizarre system of no left turns? If you pass by something that is on your side, good luck trying to backtrack. If you pass somewhere that's on the opposite side of the road, you have to travel umpteen miles past it before you're "permitted" to turn right, and then turn left to go in the opposite direction!
In the normal world, you have a left turning lane at a stoplight. In NJ it seems like you can only make right turns, and it's invariably from a lane that has traffic bearing down behind you at 40/50/60 mph. Smart. It's not hard to see why NJ has the highest insurance rates when you see their traffic laws. I'm actually surprised that the Fed hasn't stuck their nose in to this, as NJ's set-up can't be good for reducing pollution when you make vehicles go way out of the way to reach the destination. Rant over.
^^ My theory is that the nature of the numerous highly traveled highways in NJ would actually cause more accidents and backups if there were a left turn lane. Its kind of like a freeway, where you need an offramp on one side to direct the traffic. Otherwise, you have two areas where cars slow down at an intersection, which will cause even more backups. Additionally, people on the left turn lane would probably wait forever because there is a lot of oncoming traffic, coming fast.
Now, I've always hated NJ jug-handle turns. Please keep it cloverleaf. I hate making two left turns to make a uturn.
What I saw in that video was pure stupidity that makes me want to chase them down and fight them. I've done so much defensive driving it's amazing I never wrecked, the trick is drive fast enough on the freeways but take ur time on the local roads. What I worry about are maniacs who speed on narrow streets not considering people at blind stop-sign corners.
Once I was merging from near exit 9 onto rt 1 and I pulled infront of this corvette to take the ramp [we all need to do that sometimes], well this douchbag tough guy in the passenger seat was yelling and giving the middle finger so I wave my middlefinger as I get infront of them. That's when it pays not to drive such a nice car, they had more to loose in a game of roadrage.
trust me. NJ is a cakewalk as compared to Philly.. not even close. Hell they will ram ya in philly and drive away cause they don't have a license or registration or own the car. (stolen) and the cops let it go. If no one is hurt they don't even respond to something like that. Seriously.
