Okay. I read this cause I knew others must have thought the same thing (N.J. economic issues follow Corzine to Iraq (http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/184/story/365092.html - broken link)):
"He was asked who was paying for the trip, whether it was ill-timed and what it would accomplish.
Corzine bristled, saying it would be "an affront" to the troops to cancel the visit, which the Pentagon scheduled months ago and kept secret because of security concerns. Govs. Rick Perry, of Texas, and Chris Gregoire, of Washington, are on the same trip. "It's very clear that we have been working on our efforts to deal with a budget crisis," Corzine said. "I don't feel that issue precludes us from fulfilling a responsibility to pay our respects and gratitude to the men and women who sacrifice so much."
Not for nothing but has anyone ever heard of a gov going to such lengths? I'm not trying to lessen the 'meaning' - but com'n! Is this where the penny tax increase is going? This was a weak reply and this NJ resident is disgusted. Am I the only one?!
He's going there to fight and to keep NJ safe from terrorists - ROFL!
Yeah that'll be the day.
Want to keep NJ safe Corzine? Keep your butt in the seat you won and do your job! Oh! I am so livid ... but then I just read the thread on the animal abuser so I'm really, really hot under the collar right now!

I agree and as a side note I'm sure the troops were THRILLED to see him...NOT
Corzine could go on a street corner in Laredo TX, sell tamales for six months, and he'd simultaneously improve the economy of both NJ and TX at the same time.
Maybe I'm the only person in the world who doesn't care too much. I think every state's top politicians have done a goodwill visit or two in Iraq, to meet soldiers from their respective states and elsewhere. I can't speak for soldiers in an overseas war, but I think any reminder of home, even the appearance of a less than popular governor, would be welcome. It's on the Department of Defense dime. If this burns you so much, write to the Pentagon and ask for your fraction of a cent share of the cost back.
Corzine - His thoughts on Iraq - "It's like Camden and Irvington... only bigger"!
