Hello all,

My mom is on Social Security and Medicare. She has all of her wits about her and is good at weighing her options with Medicare, etc., but she is on an extremely fixed income and I want to make sure we're aware of all of the options.

I was curious if there were any independent groups in Bergen County (Bogota area) that could advise her and/or suggest resources that she may not even be aware of.

Examples:

Should she pay to use a 3rd party "gap" health insurer to cover diff bw Medicare and Doctor or are there better options?

Help her quickly interpret and make decisions about the Medicare options available to her

What services might be available to her from the County or State for a low-or-no cost?

Any local recreational programs available?

Trying to get in touch with these NJ Agencies themselves is futile and fruitless. Pitiful really.

Any advice or suggestions from others with parents in similar circumstances would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Mike

Look on Medicare.gove this is a great way to help decide what is best for your mother. There are a lot more Medicare Options today, some have a $0 premium.

Is she a member of AARP? Perhaps they can offer assistance? Just a thought.
